Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner issued an alert on Friday afternoon, cautioning that there are no less than 13 locations in town where there are downed trees or power lines, with more expected to topple as the Nor’easter continues battering the region.
Throughout the Hudson Valley, hundreds of downed trees have knocked out power and caused mayhem for local residents.
In Greenburgh, as of 4 p.m., 3,004 Con Edison customers had reported that they lost power, impacting nearly 20,000 residents. Con Edison officials said that power should be restored throughout the town by 10 p.m.
“If a tree falls on an active wire, town crews cannot remove the tree until Con Edison says it is safe to do so,” Feiner said. “Con Edison is trying to address each problem as quickly as possible. Please consider (the wires) live, avoid them and contact Con Edison to report the location.”
Those experiencing power outages or who spot downed power lines can contact Con Edison by calling 1-800-75-CONED.
